 Taste of Playa announces date for its 5th annual event to be held on November 24, 2013 in Playa del Carmen, Mexico 

Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Mexico – May 9th, 2013 – The executive committee of Taste of Playa is proud to announce its fifth annual culinary event for Sunday November the 24th, 2013. Taste of Playa, an international gastronomical event, will be held at Parque Fundadores in Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya Mexico.

Taste of Playa offers locals and visitors a unique opportunity to sample a wide variety of contemporary and traditional cuisines, created by distinctive restaurants from Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our 5th anniversary, and this year we have special surprises that we’ll be disclosing as the date approaches. We are very grateful to have the support and commitment from many of our 2012 participants and corporate sponsors.” – Stated Armando Elizalde, this year’s marketing committee Co-Chair.

Originally launched in 2009, Taste of Playa has grown from 25 participating restaurants and beverage providers, to over 40. Taste of Playa’s increasing popularity is expected to draw over 8,000 local and international visitors to this year’s event.

Taste of Playa is organized by a committee of eight (8) local business owners in Playa del Carmen. The committee’s goal for Taste of Playa is to help develop and sustain community programs that will have a positive effect on the residents of Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya.

July 15th, 2012 – Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Mexico –– Starting July the 15th, VIP Passes and discounted Taste of Playa pesos will be available online for the 4th annual international culinary event ‘Taste of Playa 2012’ – http://www.tasteofplaya.com

The highly anticipated culinary event is open to the public and will take place on November 18, 2012 at Parque Fundadores in Playa del Carmen.

Forty area restaurants, bars and caterers will participate in the day long festival, which celebrates the cultural diversity and culinary traditions that have helped make the Riviera Maya one of the top travel destinations in the world.

All of the VIP Passes sold out well in advance at last year’s event and we anticipate that the VIP Passes will again be in high demand for Taste of Playa 2012. “We hope that everyone who wants a VIP Pass has a chance to purchase it … but don’t wait too long, because there will be only a limited number of VIP Passes for sale” stated Executive Committee Chair Monica Hartlief.

The VIP Passes, which cost $40 US, give holders early entrance to the event, where they can be the first to sample the signature dishes. VIP Pass holders will also have access to the exclusive VIP lounge, a comfortable seating area reserved especially for them.

Giving Back to the Community with the Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen

The Taste of Playa is a community-oriented event in the true sense of the term.  Each year the Taste of Playa has supported the local community through the donation of a portion of the event proceeds to benefit a local, non-profit food or clean drinking water program.  With the goal of supporting community programs and having a positive effect on the residents of Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya, the Diamonds International Taste of Playa 2011 Executive Committee has elected to donate a portion of this year’s proceeds to be administered by the Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen for a local food or fresh drinking water program. 

The Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen is part of the Rotary International organization, with over 33,000 clubs and 1.22 million members worldwide.  The Rotarians, who’s best known motto is “Service above Self”, provide humanitarian services by working internationally and locally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training and promote peace in the world. The Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen has been working within the community to build goodwill and peace since its creation in 1992.  One of the goals reached by the local Club is its Playa del Carmen Community Center which works with medical and dental offices, literacy programs for adults and children and a drug prevention center.

The Taste of Playa 2010, through its donation to the Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen, provided 4000 breakfasts to children participating in a summer school program organized by DIF (Desarrollo Integral de La Familia).  The Taste of Playa 2009 donation was awarded to Ak Lu’um International School to provide the school with clean, safe drinking water for students, teachers and volunteers.  This year, Diamonds International Taste of Playa 2011 is happy to continue its community support by again providing a donation of a portion of the event proceeds to the Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen to administer the donation to a local food or drinking water program.
